The Nicolaus Copernicus Museum is the biographical museum of the most eminent Toruń's citizen. It is located in two beautiful Gothic houses: in his family house and adjoined neighbouring patrician house. Obviously it is the most popular with tourists museum in Toruń. The excellent supplement is the model of 15th century Toruń with sound-and-light programme. The stairs in the biggest room, the high entrance-hall, lead you to the Gothic cellars, where you can start visiting the exhibition presenting the history of famous Toruń gingerbread craft, which had its origins in the 14th century. The scenography arrangement lets you see the workshop of a gingerbread master, sitting at his desk and recording on wax boards stocks necessary for making honey and spice dough.
Torun historic medieval urban complex is one of the most beautiful and most valuable architectural sites in Europe and in the world. This is reflected in the inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. Toruń Centre is a real treasure trove of architecture from Gothic through Renaissance, Baroque, classical and the eclectic Art Nouveau.
The Planetarium is located in the area of the Old Town. The building is an example of industrial architecture and originates from the second half of 19th century. It was previously used as a gas container for citizens of Torun.The Planetarium in Toruń presents popular astronomical shows that embrace almost the entire scope of the astronomical knowledge. There are also two interactive exhibition the Geodium and the Orbitarium.
